Sam Perkins is a founding partner of Brody, Hardoon, Perkins & Kesten, LLP. He was a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly "Lawyer of the Year" in 2006, and has been designated a Super Lawyer every year since 2004.

Sam heads the firm’s Telecommunications, Professional Liability and Commercial Litigation groups. He regularly represents owners of family corporations in disputes with fellow owners, and executives who must negotiate severance and non-competition terms with their employers. In his work to protect women’s reproductive health rights, his litigation in 2006 forced Wal-Mart to stock Plan B, the “Morning After Pill,” nationwide, after which he served on the Board of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts from 2006 to 2015. In 2015, he received NARAL’s “Champion of Choice” award. In class actions on behalf of consumers, he forced Staples and Pep Boys to grant substantial refunds to Massachusetts customers for pricing violations. In personal injury litigation, he has achieved multi-million-dollar settlements in claims against auto manufacturers and ridesharing companies. In civil rights litigation, he has obtained major recoveries on behalf of Palestinian and African-American employees for ethnic and racial discrimination by their employers. In over twenty years’ experience in cellular telecommunications disputes, he has represented Massachusetts towns and neighborhood groups opposing siting of cell towers and the utility pole-mounted antennas that will be used in developing 5G networks. He has extensive experience representing attorneys and clients in legal malpractice claims, and represents attorneys in disciplinary actions by the Board of Bar Overseers.

Sam has been lead counsel in dozens of jury trials in the federal and state courts of Massachusetts, Vermont, California and Florida, and has broad appellate experience before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Massachusetts Appeals Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Vermont Supreme Court.

Sam began his legal career in Vermont, first as an Assistant Attorney General doing environmental enforcement, then as partner of Peter Welch, now Vermont’s junior U.S. Senator, in the White River Junction firm of Welch, Graham, Perkins & Manby. After moving back to Boston, he practiced at Morrison, Mahoney & Miller before founding BHPK in 1995. He and his wife Nancy, a psychiatrist, have raised four children, and are enjoying having three grandchildren.
